Hello again, everyone!
Today, I thought I'd do a post about the motivation and meaning behind our logo.
Back when I was still contemplating the design for the logo, the first question I asked myself was, "Should I incorporate the design of piano keys into the logo?"
Surely that will be what most people anticipate when they think of a piano school...right?
I contemplated this for quite a while!
But I decided I wanted to have something different. Something that represented my values and my passion for piano. Something which people might not expect when they see a logo representing a piano school.
Sunflowers
Sunflowers can symbolise many things but for me, the symbolism of loyalty, faith, adoration and positivity stood out the most to me.
I was never someone who really adored flowers in general, but the symbolism of sunflowers was what I felt represented me in the logo.
My loyalty and adoration for music over my years of life and how I actively chose never to give up on music.
My faith in the art of music as it has helped me through many tumultous events in my life.
The positivity which sunflowers can bring and how, just from a mere glance at them, they can make a bad day into a not-so-bad one.
Colourful Music Notes & Symbols
Initially, I opted for the music notes and symbols to be black and white. As someone who's spent years reading scores, sheets and/or pieces, having music notes and symbols in various colours was somewhat foreign to me.
However, I figured that the colourful music notes and symbols can be interpreted as music bringing colour, joy and life into the world and people's (including the student and the teacher!) lives.
That was when I decided (firmly) that yes, we will have the music notes and symbols in colour.
Hands
The hands in the logo represent the hands of a teacher and their student.
The teacher's hand holds the sunflowers and the hand reaching out is of the student's.
For me, this image represents the imparting of the gift of music from me to my students.
It represents my hope to not only impart the gift of learning music to my students but also have them share my adoration and passion for music and realise how music can positively impact their lives.
And that was how and why I came up with the concept to include the design for the sunflowers, colourful music notes and symbols and the hands into our logo!
